Photography (Originals)

PO-001 Dories (Original 1 of 33)

Comment(Dan):  I had visited this scene for over three years but never felt I had the right moment  Then on a hot, humid July morning  … bingo!   As with many scenes or situations that appear before us, it is our makeup that brings a photographic image to life.  I like to think this is one of those images.

PO-003 The Charles (Original 1 of 5)

Comment(Dan): Opportunity … I had walked, run, biked along the Charles River for years. From the Cambridgeside I thought I had seen just about every scene possible.  Then on Christmas Eve this scene appeared.  I knew right there and then that it could be a lifetime before  a Charles River scene like this would ever occur again. Yes, the skyline has changed but this Boston image will withstand time.

PO-009 Serenity

Comment (Dan):
There are times you do something that just happens to turn out the way you planned. This was one of those times.  The very first night that the Patriots (ever) played on Monday Night Football I recognized the opportunity to have the Boston Public Garden all to myself and this image was the result.  Of course there were other factors that made this image what it became … in those days you had to know time exposures, what
film to use, how to cut film for separation, stock and finally how to manage a 2-color Heidelberg press.
I have always felt this image defines who I am.

PO-010 Fourth of July (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan): I actually took this image on the fourth of July, Block Island’s Spring House .  As you can see it was a perfect cloudless day. I do confess to enriching the sky but not by much.

PO-015 Joy (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan): There are times in your life when it seems like you have nothing, not a dime to your name.  And then there is a moment like this when you realize you have a loving wife and a miracle … that’s when you know you have been blessed. I don’t think there is a more beautiful moment when you are feeding your son or daughter and he or she falls asleep in your lap and nothing else seems to matter.

PO-032 Three for a Dollar (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan): These types of images just seem to attract me.  They’re so simple
yet the character within the image is so profound..

PO-036 Let’s Talk

Comment(Dan): How many times do we watch people and they have no idea that we are, nor do they care.  I have to believe that each one of us has a different view of what this conversation is all about that is what makes it so powerful.

PO-042 The Vendor (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan):
It took me three years to get this vendor to allow me to take his picture. I saw him just about everywhere in the city … ball park, road races, parades, you name it. He was there. So, I just could not invade into his world unless I had his permission. .  Gosh he had so much pride, Finally he said yes … It was worth the wait.

PO-055 Fall’s Fireworks

Comment(Dan):
Instantly when I saw this image the musical My Fair Lady
popped into my head …
“I have often walked down this street before
But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before
All at once am I several stories high
Knowing I’m on the street where you live”
What’s interesting about the image is that it is so positive yet every sign in
the image is negative … red light, no turn on red, no parking, etc.

PO-060 Home at Last

Comment(Dan): For those of us who have lived in a major city ‘the back stairs’ symbolizes not only a lot of history but the peace a home brings. You run in that back door and whatever happened that day is forgotten if just for a moment ‘Hi Mom!’.
back door.

PO-066 The Hat

Comment(Dan): The more I stood and looked at this image the more I saw.  Isn’t it
funny how you walk by a storefront and you never even stop to take a peak.
I guess if I were bald at the time I would have definitely stopped … haha!
Always fascinated by the message a person in trying to convey.
My dad was such a proud man you could see it in the fedora he wore.

PO-070 A City Sunset

Comment(Dan): Like everyone I have my sunsets, this being one of my favorites.
Why I like this image is because it gives me a sense that day is over and it’s time
to slow down and reflect.

PO-099 The Shed (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan): I knew this farmer Winnie and his shed since i was
seven years old. And it (shed) exemplifies whom Winnie really was …
a simple and hard working human being.

PO-010 The Storm (Original 1 of 1)

Comment(Dan): As with most New Englanders I love snow storms and when this Nor’easter came flying in and the Mass governor closed down the state I couldn’t
get out there quick enough.  The searching… in the cold and the wait, were all worth it.
This image has a ton on composition however you don’t see a lot of it here on the web.

PO-100 The Artist

Comment(Dan:  Here I was standing on Newbury Street, Boston and looking
down at this artist’s painting, then at the street, and I could feel the excitement
the artist was portraying.  A gift.

PO-101 Fenway Faithful

Comment (Dan) – I have taken a lot of pictures of ball parks, players and
this of a fan (father / son) is as good as I have ever seen.  1:00 AM, pouring
rain, and the Yankees needing to complete the game … it is a classic.
Why.  Because the fan attendance at a game transcends whatever we thinks
of baseball.

PO-115 The Order

Comment (Dan) –
You can take a lot out this image but for me this
is the epidemy of ‘cool’.   For brief moment in his life he is living the
dream.
..

PO-122 Fall’s Good Bye

Comment (Dan) –
